Honestly, I have no idea how to describe it. I loved how when I played a video on Firefox, it wouldn't pop up with that annoying video title whenever I changed my volume. Now, when I'm watching a video or playing audio, this happens. And, it doesn't even get it right most of the time! Like for example, it does this instead! That's not even the page I'm on!

Is there any way for me to get rid of this? Thanks

Letters (most noticeably x, y, and z) appear to be missing from text in web pages. Running macOS 10.14.6 with Firefox Browser 80.0. Note the image from the drop down menu on this support page. Missing y's, z's, and x is replaced by quotation marks (ie Firefo" Snc).

I have seen this sporadically on a couple of macs that I own. Text seems okay in Safari.

Thank you for your help!

Hi, I just refreshed Firefox on this site https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings because my browser was getting slower and recommended that to me with a little Pop-Up at the bottom of my screen. I first read through the whole page and it clearly says that I will not lose my booksmarks, but exactly that happened. I already read through most support articles, but they all mention a second profile in about:profiles but there is just one. The bookmark folder is empty in this profile. Does anyone know how I can get them back? Thanks

I can not log in to my bank to do on-line banking. (M&T Bank). The page simply will not display with Firefox, yet I have no problems at all on Chrome, edge etc.. I think you have gone too far with your blocking. I tapped on the shield icon and the bank has all of its security credentials correct. I followed your "help" and basically you say that if I turn the setting down, a hacker can get into my banking. Yet the other browsers have no issue with me, nor does the bank itself. I'd hate to leave a browser Ive been using for many years, and one I really enjoy the interface, but every time you do an update, I lose yet another function. Can this be fixed?

My thanks in advance. Tom Koch

Hello, I just upgraded from version 80.1 to version 81 on my Win7 system. I was looking forward to using the new PDF form filling feature but when I open a PDF document containing forms and try to enter data into a field, I get the following message:

This PDF file contains forms. The filling of form fields is not supported.

Do I need to configure something to allow Firefox to fill fields in a PDF form document?

The What's New page says this feature is available in version 81 and higher but does not say how to enable it. Thanks

I was cleaning out my hard drive and deleting old installs of Microsoft Visual Studio Redistributable packages, and I almost certainly deleted the one that Firefox relies on.

I then attempted to start Firefox, getting the error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I uninstalled, following the clean install directions, and deleting the "Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/" directory.

Then, I ran the Firefox Installer, newly downloaded, and when running it, it gives the same error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Selecting "Restore Defaults" has no effect either way. The installer then appears to complete in the background, and the Firefox directory is created, along with the executable.

When I run Firefox.exe, it seems to load the program, but any address I type in fails to begin loading. This includes websites (www.google.com) and help/utility pages (about:config). I'm therefore unable to change any settings within Firefox.

I then tried re-installing the "Visual C++ 2008" and "Visual C++ 2015-2019" packages in an attempt to restore that DLL, but that had no effect after repeating the same steps above (clean uninstall, re-install). Which VC++ Redist Package should I be re-installing? Ideally, I should be able to just get a copy of VCRUNTIME140_1.dll and place it where Firefox is looking for it.

I would like to add the Firefox homepage to my favorites list, but when I am on the page (get to it by clicking on the "home" button to the left of the address bar), the "star" button in the address bar is not there (usually would click on that to mark the page I am on to be bookmarked). I use Firefox on a daily basis. It's open 24/7 on my PC and has 7 pinned tabs because I use them all almost everyday - they are mostly e-mail. It's set to auto-update and I think it recently updated to version 80. Ever since Facebook announced the removal of Facebook Classic and rolled out a Messenger update yesterday, I have been getting weird memory-related issues. Since I don't use Firefox exclusively, I just minimize it but it's always running. When I maximize it back to use it, the Facebook pinned tab does something crazy and all my other software start complaining that Windows ran out of memory and sometimes even crashing them though Firefox doesn't and the Facebook page looks garbled like its CSS gets corrupted. I am using the new Facebook - the one that looks like an app - in Dark Mode. The issue only happens when I use Facebook. The issue started happening yesterday.

Important note: this only started happening yesterday. The only thing that changed was the update to Firefox 80 and the roll out of the new Facebook Messenger update. This PC is rarely shut down. Also, when I am using the network (like downloading games from Steam or Epic Games or GOG Galaxy), the issue worsens and Explorer crashes and closes everything in my notification area.

Current workaround: I closed the Facebook pinned tab and everything seems to be working fine.

Specs: Firefox version 80 (no plugins) Windows 10 version 2004 Core-i7 4790K, 32Gb RAM, SSD + 19 Terabytes total HDD NVidia RTX 2070 Super with latest Game Ready drivers

Has the behaviour of Firefox with regard to caching style sheets changed in the newest version?

I ask since I develop with Visual Studio and browse the development build with Firefox. Hence the URL will be similar to:

http://localhost:55223

If I modify a css file in the build and refresh the page in Firefox it does not change. It never changes even after a CTRL+F5, nor after starting a new session.

If I browse the site with Edge it does pick up the change instantly after tapping F5 to reload. To see the changes in Firefox it's necessary to rename the css file to force a reload of it.

This only seems to have started happening since the latest build and makes it impossible to use Firefox in the development environment. Is there a "hack" for the settings to force a reload?

Evidently when setting up Firefox and importing from Chrome my ID's and passwords, there were some pretty old ones in there. Now with Firefox when I go to a website to login it presents a popup offering a selection of saved ID/PWs for this site. On Chrome, and even Edge, I could just arrow down to an old one and when highlighted hit Delete to clean these out, without having to search for them in a different place to manage that.

How can I do this the easy way with Firefox - an extension or option somewhere?

I do web design. And my problem is that I used to click the refresh button in firefox and it would instantly load an updated version of the pages I was working on. But now it does the exact same thing I hate about chrome. It loads pages using cached css and javascript files. And the only way to view the updated websites is to go private mode which is very annoying. Is there an option to get around this? Or it's a software problem?
