WARNING. I found a suspect add-on in my computer. It was called "greatsaver2". Anyone heard of this?
The add-on was downloaded directly into my Firefox add-ons without my knowledge or permission. It came in about the same time I was downloading music from YouTube. Luckily I found it when doing a routine check of my add-ons. I got rid of it pretty quickly and did a security check of the computer. There were no details with the add-on. Never had this happen before.

Hello,
When Firefox installs an addon, it does prompt you for confirmation to install. Another possibility is that as part of some other software installation, this addon was installed on Firefox browser. Do you recollect if you installed any software recently that could have caused this. Sharing those details will help the community in checking more.
Thank you
Some free programs come with extra software bundled in. I suggest visiting the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, and click the "Installed on" column heading to sort the most recent additions to the top. This may reveal that you inadvertently or unknowingly installed unwanted software. If there's anything suspicious, remove it here and also try a quick scan with some of the tools in this article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
Many thanks to jscher2000 and gnittala for your help regarding the unwanted add-on called "greatsaver2". I have been having some problems with an MP3 converter which did download software I did not want. I quickly got rid of it but I think that is when the add-on got through. The problem site is (MC) YouTube Converter Version.rev8.1. Not good at all. Took a little time cleaning up the computer after trying to download a video from YouTube. I wanted audio only. This site has changed since the first time I used it. I have removed it. I was not aware that an add-on could get in this way. Very tricky. Sorry my reply is a bit late but it is just morning here in Sydney Australia. Again many thanks. What would I do without you guys!
