How can I stop Firefox from randomly getting "server not found" or "unable to connect"-even though a refresh will get me to the site?
I originally loaded 18.0.2 (now have 19.0) on my new Imac and soon started seeing those messages. If I hit "try again" on the error page, I go immediately to the website. I asked about this on the forum and someone else said they had the same problem-immediately after they upgraded from 18.0.1

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:
- Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the Clear now button.
Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

You can try to disable IPv6.
See:
You can also try to reset (power off/on) the router.
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
This is a brand new Imac- no anti-virus I did the first fix offered (above) and so far (1/2 day yesterday) , I haven't had the problem. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks,

Thanks,

disabled IPv6...... had the problem back within 2 hours. Instead of powering of/on my router, I switched it with another brand. I will report back if that made a difference.

Hi all,
I've experienced this over the last week or so. I went through all the suggestions to no avail. Finally discovered that my DNS server settings on my PC [Windows 7] had changed by themselves. Malware perhaps? Not sure.
They were fine on my Billion router; they hadn't changed - only on the PC.
Changed them back [both preferred and alternative] to what my Internet provider requires and all is good again.
It may be worth a check??
