For the last month or so, whenever I watch YouTube or anything flash related, my WHOLE system will freeze. Not for just a second, but for 2+ minutes sometimes. The audio repeats and I can't do anything except wait it out. It's becoming really annoying because it happens more often than not. This bug has also survived a Windows clean install at least 3 versions of Firefox, and 10.3+ Flash versions.

All hardware acceleration is disabled both in Firefox, and Flash. This is just getting to be really ridiculous.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
