I have lost my bookmarks and Firefox instructions are not finding them
I have followed the instructions to restore my bookmarks but nothing works. I only get an encrypted indication and I really need help.

How did you lose the bookmarks?
Did Firefox update or crash?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox Profile Folder.

I don't remember exactly - I think I was restoring Firefox to a previous version and all of a sudden - no bookmarks! I have followed the backup/restore instructions to a "T" and nothing is working. I'm getting increasingly frustrated because my bookmarks are very important to me.
I have followed the APPDATA instructions and it leads me to several profiles but when I try to open any of them it is merely an encrypted message. I am getting nowhere with this. Are my bookmarks completely lost?
Can you attach a screenshot that shows that message?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

I am trying to upload a pdf file showing four pages of the responses that I am getting but it simply isn't working. I've also tried copy/paste and that isn't working either. I don't know what more I can do - but this is extremely disconerting.
Do you have an email address so I could send this as an attachment?
Can you open that screenshot in Windows Paint and save the image as JPG?
Four pages are attached - hopefully you can see them because they are extremely small here on my end.
I'm sending these again as screen shots. Hopefully you can read them.
The numbers appended to the profile name indicate that you created a new profile via a reset and the number is a time date stamp in Unix epoch format). The 1356245109136 profile is the most recent:

You need to restore a JSON backup via the Firefox Bookmarks Manager (Library) to retrieve bookmarks stored in the JSON file.
- Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
Note that restoring a JSON backup will replace all your current bookmarks (you get a warning about that).
If you already have bookmarks that you wish to keep then export them to an HTML file before restoring the JSON backup.
You can import that HTML file after you have restored the JSON backup to get your current bookmarks back (you need to remove duplicates).
WOW - this worked - thank you so much!!! Happy Holidays to you.
