I upgraded my Firefox recently to Version 16.0.1. Since then my middle click button has not been working the same. I open up multiple windows and in each window I open links and I used to do this by middle clicking on the link and it would open up the link in a tab in the current window I am working in. Now when I middle click, it opens up the link in the primary/original window and not in the current window I am working in. The only solution I have found is to hover over the link and open in the foreground tab. I am using Tab Mix Plus version 0.4.0.3 and have uninstalled and re-installed already with no change...

Hi,

You can try to right-click and Reset the browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent value in about:config, or Toggle to True.

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.

The Config Descriptions add-on adds helpful source comments in about:config.

If problems persist, you can also Reset Firefox and start afresh.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

If you've opened a pop-up window then links clicked in that window will open in the primary window and not in the pop-up window.

Does this also happen if you first open a new window manually, either via the File or Ne Tab menu or via the Ctrl+N shortcut?

@cor-el, This used to work before i upgraded my firefox. My middle click button used to open other links in new tabs in the window I am currently on. Now it only does so in the primary window. I click on a "link" in our system portal, which pops up a window and in that window I middle click on a link and it should open a new tab in the current window but it doesn't anymore. Now i have to right click on the link and select open link in foreground tab.
