Firefox 10 will not access the web. Other browsers OK. Help!
IT JUST STOPPED! Even the Geek Squad can't get it to work. Seems like it was working fine then it didn't. Get this message for EVERY site: "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server"

OMG! After all of that..... once I uninstalled McAfee it works fine. I am trying a re-install of McAfee as we "speak" to see if it they will be OK together. If there is a problem, I'll repost. If not... well consider this closed. And thank you VERY VERY much for all of your help. Pete

Hi,
Please see this.
Thank you for your reply. I followed the instructions, but the changes did not fix the problem. Not certain where to go from here. I LOVE Firefox and do not want to abandon it. Any suggestions?
Are you able to connect using another browser on the same PC?

Yes. Chrome, IE, and Netscape. This one has got me stumped.
Please check if this happens in Safe Mode.

You can also try creating a new profile and open Firefox in that.
Same problem in safe more. New profile did not help either. all add-ons disabled.

Can you please post a screenshot of the error page. Add images: Browse below Post a Reply on this page.

Unable to connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at us.mg5.mail.yahoo.com. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
You may have to check the settings in the security software. Please see this. You can also check with the portable Firefox.
Turned off McAfee firewall, but it still fails. Next step is to kill McAfee altogether. I'll research this and update the thread. Thx for ur help. Pete
Hi Pete,
You may have already gone through these from the links, but if you haven't, I hope this is helpful: Firewalls and McAfee settings.

Let's hope it holds :) Thanks for posting the details. Please note that if the McAfeee rules and confs weren't deleted when uninstalling, the problem may resurface.
