I'm having the same "lag time" with my email account on FF.

I'm wondering if it's caused by the recent auto update to Flash 11 (for me, anyway). I've been waiting for an answer, as to whether I can delete it.

Since I haven't heard a word, I downloaded Flash 11 to my desktop, so I can use the "uninstall" tool there (there is NO place on my computer that shows that Flash 11 was loaded, except in FF.

I haven't deleted the old Flash 10 plugin and since we both have XP, I'm wondering if you're having the same problem with Flash as me.

I'm going to uninstall the Flash 11 and then download the latest 10 update. After that, I will uninstall the 10 update 26 version of Adobe Flash.

I saw on the Abobe Flash 11 update page, a suggestion of the use of more ram than on the Flash 10 page, so that could be what's causing it to happen.

Anywho, that's what I'm going to do. Up to you, Chamiea. I see you also have the Flash 11 update.

I'm thinking it's gobbling ram, and slowing things down and it stops being slow after a period of time, because everything is loaded.

I'll come back on with the links I used, if you want to get rid of 11 and go back down to 10's highest update.

My Norton said there were VERY few users of Flash 11, think it was just released from Beta. I like to stick with the older versions of any product, until they get the bugs out. Just me.

As I said, I didn't download the Flash 11, I was trying to update to 10 update 29, and FF crashed and BAM Flash 11 appeared on FF. This happened about three or four days ago, and since then, when I go to my email, FF lags....and if I have a few tabs open, it freezes. I log out, then click restart and come back on. It's a pain...so I'm dumping Flash 11 and going back to the highest 10 version they have for plugins.

Oh, btw, I have the ActiveX 10 update on IE and my email loaded FAST, so I'm convinced that the Flash 11 is the culprit.

it is not adobe flash causing this. i installed adobe flash on version 4.01 without any issues. on 7.01 the plugin-container.exe is what actually freezes. this is what could be freezing. I use flash V11 without any ill effects when using 4.01. am currently doing some more settings testing on 7.01

I have Mozilla Firefox 7.01 and Adobe Flash 11.o plugin. Are you suggesting to load Mozilla Firefox 4.01 to prevent the slow processing and "not responding" message?

What i am saying is that the problem does not exist with version 4.01. It is your choice to do so.

I am merely stating this this is not a problem with Flash V11. Chrome uses V11 and it does not experience issues with flash and FF v4.01 does not experience problems with Flash V11. I have tests this out myself. Feel free to try it yourself if you so choose.

Thanks, Carm. I checked the Web and a suggestion was to download PC Cleaner Pro. I downloaded it, but misplaced my license key, which is needed to complete the fixes. Once I find the key, PC Cleaner will fix all problems found. I'll then see if the problem continues. If not, I will most likely download v4.01 to see if that corrects the problem.

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall if that is the cause of the hangs.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.

Try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 256 to 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

@cor-el. i am trying that suggestion for max connections to see if that causes it to stop hanging on 7.01. I have seen it before but thought that it would not make a difference, however i am willing to try.

re: " Not Responding" - I like FireFox - Sure! But I don't want to have to fix it? Come on, you put a program out there and you get all this feedback so you fix the program. After faithfully using Firefox exclusively for a couple of years I have been forced into the "opportunity" to rediscover the the benefits of a browser that does not "hang" every few minutes, like Chrome. I will check beck every so often but if FIREFOX doesn't fix it FOR ME then I am another lost customer to them.

I agree and Firefox leaves no choice but to abandon using it in favor of another browser.

I had this problem, and there didn't seem to be a solution until I found this add-on:

Apparently corruption in the database files where firefox stores bookmarks, history etc. can be the cause of this annoying behaviour. I installed the add-on, and performed 'Deep Check' from the preset menu in options. Subsequently I have not experienced any hangs since. Hope this helps.
