I can create a desktop shortcut to a website by dragging the icon but the Firefox icon appears instead of the site icon. How can I bring the site icon with the shortcut?

Hello.

This is a system specific support question, which is better asked, in your case, to Microsoft. On Windows XP, I know it's done by right-clicking the shortcut, going into Properties, and changing the shortcut icon from there. You will need to get a file that has the icon, which may be a bit hard.

Alternatively, you may want to try Prism which makes sites behave like applications (which is nice and consistent from being launched from a shortcut), and, I believe, puts the site's favicon as the icon. Although quality may be a bit off, since favicons are, as of today, all 16x16.

Mozilla is trying to get the standard to support high-resolution favicons, but it's still very much a work in progress.

I hope this helps.

Thanks that did work in some cases but not completely. Does Prism work with ver 3.6.8?
