In Thunderbird, how do I permanently change the server from virginmedia to microsoft outlook while keeping the same email address
Currently my Thunderbird uses Virginmedia server. Virginmedia is getting out of the email business altogether and will delete all their email accounts in the near future. I would like to use Microsoft new Outlook as my replacement server. How do I make this change while keeping the same email address? (I suspect there will be thousands asking the same question)

click to 'account settings' and edit the 'serve settings' pane. then, click the 'outgoing servers' link in lower left side of the account settings pane and edit the SMTP server for the account. Thunderbird may restart.
David, your answer is a simple one but its application is not so simple. I tried replacing the server name with outlook.office365.com but it requires Authentication code OAuth2/Modern Auth which is not in the drop down list in Thunderbird and there seems nowhere to add it. So I could not progress
I forgot to mention that after downloading and installing Microsoft new Outlook on my PC, as soon as I put my email address in the add account box all my emails appeared instantly. so it seem that Outlook has already made a connection to my VirginMedia account
I have now successfully added a new account to my Thunderbird with all the server settings relating to Outlook; this is now set as my default account. In Thunderbird I moved my Inbox contents from the email account drawing from my VM account into the Outlook facing account (by drag and drop) but new incoming mail is still going going into the VM supplied account. If I open Outlook , all the emails are there but it's clear Outlook is still getting them from my VM server account. Any ideas?
