Firefox Sync Data Loss After PC Reset - Recovery Request
Hello Mozilla Support Team,
I am writing to request assistance with recovering my Firefox Sync data.
I recently reset my PC and after reinstalling Firefox and logging back into my Firefox account, my bookmarks and saved passwords are completely gone. I believe the sync may have overwritten the server-side data with an empty local profile after the reset.
Account email: dkssudgktka14@gmail.com Approximate date of data loss: 02 25 2026
I had been accumulating this data for approximately 1 years and it is very important to me. Could you please check if there is any backup of my sync data on your servers that could be restored?
Thank you for your help.

Did you happen to backup your Firefox profile before resetting Windows?

I checked the link you sent me
Thank you for the explanation. I really appreciate your help.
Honestly though, I'm done with Firefox after this. If Sync isn't a backup service, then Firefox should at least warn users about this clearly, or have a built-in option to export data automatically before major system changes. There's no notification, no reminder, nothing.
I lost 4 years of bookmarks and passwords because I trusted a feature that was never designed to protect my data. That's frustrating.
Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to respond. I just needed to get that off my chest.
Why do I have to manually export bookmarks and records in 2026? i don't know
