Thunderbird freezing on opening or performing any action
Thunderbird very slow to respond when opening the program. On opening any email it freezes for a couple of seconds resulting in a "Wait for the program to respond" or "close program message" . This also happens when performing any action in Thunderbird. This has been happening for the past two or three weeks. Can you tell me how to fix this or is it something you need to do to fix.

Is it just thunderbird or do you have issues with more apps on your computer? Try to start the Troubleshoot Mode Thunderbird to see if it then is ok. if not you can make a profile to send it to the developers so the can investigate is , see Profiling Thunderbird Performance

This usually happens when the mail profile or message index gets too large or slightly corrupted. Try starting Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode to see if add-ons are causing the freezes. Also, compact all folders and make sure antivirus software is not scanning the mail folder in real time. If the profile is very old, creating a new profile and adding the accounts again often fixes this behavior.
