Hi,

right now, my problem is with this site eyerim.com. I am in Hungary, so when I type eyerim.com into the address bar, I get to eyerim.hu instead, with a Hungarian translation of the homepage.

But I did not ask for effing eyerim.hu, with its shitty or maybe non-shitty Hungarian translation. I want to see the original homepage, but if I type the eyerim.com address the hundredth time I still get eyerim.hu.

Now, to be clear, in this specific case I managed to get around the problem by typing eyerim.com/blog, and voilá. But I don't want to have to look for bypasses, I want Firefox to PREVENT any such automatic redirections. How can I do this?

It seems to be blindly redirecting based on the country of your IP address. If you are in the US it redirects you to "eyerim dot us" which does not exist. The "dot com" root path is just a redirector so there is nothing to show.

Thanks zeroknight for the info, but how can I prevent such blind redirection?

Even if there is nothing on "dot com", the site should be at least forced by Firefox to ask me whether I want to go to "dot hu" or "dot fi" or "dot whatever" before directing me somewhere.

There is no eyerim . en or uk. But the real problem is not to find an English-language version but to make the site NOT to direct me to the Hungarian/Finnish/whatever page unless it asks me and I say OK.

That's up to the site your at that does that Firefox has no control what they do with their site or redirects. You need to contact their support site and tell them of this problem.

If Firefox has really no tools to control the redirects, well, that's depressing, but thanks anyway.

Extensions can't block server-side navigation. From the uBlock Origin developer:

Not possible really. The browser initiates the navigation to whatever link you click, and by the time uBO is given the ability to block the network request, the navigation has taken place -- by "navigation" I mean the browser unloaded the current page and is preparing a new blank page to be filled with the result of the network request.
