How do I turn off the automatic desktop download? Every time I open a file it downloads it to my desktop without permission. This is beyond irresponsible and dangerous to the end user. I assume you have a team standing by to assist in removing virus' and restoring people's computers.

The changes were made by version 98. https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/98.0/releasenotes/

There are ways you can change the destination. There is also a preference which will reverse the changes but it will only apply temporarily and is probably only there for the convenience of coders.
