Microsoft update KB4474419
Hi there , I am interested to know if Mozilla support group is aware of the problem Microsoft update KB4474419 causes? I am running widows 7 sp1. I installed the update as you mentioned in your Firefox 100 release notes. After reboot , I got a beep and a black screen - win 7 won't start. I had to find a way to delete the update so I could boot my system back. I asked few of my colleagues that use the same OS and they experienced the exact same problem. Surfing the web , makes it quite clear - this update is faulty and not compatible with win 7 as Microsoft claims. I would like to get a straight answer - can I update my FF99 to FF100 , without the notorious KB4474419 , or , as of FF100 , win7 sp1 is no longer applicable to Firefox ? Thanks. look4

Bug 1745467 resulted in the release notes for Firefox 100 that mentioned that Microsoft update KB4474419 is required for successful installation on Windows 7. There's a question about what will actually happen when Windows 7 users install Firefox version 100, if KB4474419 is not installed. According to the bug report discussion, (quote) users without KB4474419 will not even notice that UAC prompt will be in orange colour - they will click "Yes" on anything or even better, have UAC disabled, so won't even notice anything.

Thank you for the quick response Well ,I am sorry to inform you but I did not read about this update in Microsoft notes regarding Firefox 100 installation instructions , as
mentioned before , it was in Mozilla's release notes regarding the installation of firefox 100 Any way sir , I sense a note of disrespect in your response hope I am wrong then again , that's how I feel. There is no need for any assistance from Microsoft , just wanted firefox fans running win7 to think twice before running the above mentioned update

Hi cor-el , Thank you for taking the time to respond. Prior to my question , I already read everything there is to know about that update. Dropa referred me to Microsoft support team regarding Black screen or BSOD , well coe-el , one calculated guess what would their answer be regarding "win7" , moreover , there is no way they'll issue a patch to solve the problem for obvious reasons. Any way I still haven't got an answer to my question - will FF100 work without that update? In any case , when you have time , please see the links I've enclosed. Thanks
