Tabs Remaining Even Following Browser Close
Hello, in regards to the subject line I was wondering if this is something I can disable, but most importantly what is actually going on behind the scenes here. Does it stress hardware at all?

Hello,
If you mean the restore session feature, it does not keep tabs open, but reopens the tabs (and windows if you had multiple) that were there when you closed the browser.
You should be able to turn it off at the top of about:preferences#general under the startup header.
I am not aware if this causes any problems per se, other than the performance impact that opening all of them would normally.
When the browser is running, and when it closes, it keeps a record of what tabs/windows were open. If the browser crashes or does not close properly, the tabs/windows that were open are restored automatically.
You can also set the browser to open the last session in the settings if you want.
