Hi - am now encountering IRRESOLVABLE difficulties DOWNLOADING files after Firefox would just NOT close not matter what I did.....
(SECOND occurrence of this problem; not sure HOW previous instance resolved - my short-term memory ISN'T the best at present!)
Have taken all recommended steps short of completely refreshing (renamed a file titled 'config.json.old' as it was the ONLY one with a 'json' filepath suffix) because I don't want to have to relocate (another) existing session / configured profile by trial & error if avoidable - 'cookies' were removed along with history / cache cleared; reset / deleted related browser registry entries as directed, activated ' Troubleshooting / Safe Mode' contingency and STILL can't download anything (additionally, tried to do so with and without limited-time Malwarebytes web protections).....want to CONTINUE using Version 95 because by ALL indications and from what I'm seeing in Comments, my instincts about newer ones - were sound, WELL-informed.....please advise ASAP? Thanks!

I downloaded FF Nightly; have the impression it's some sort of 'developer's tool, or 'beta version (?) Do I even really need it, and is / are there any good aspects to retaining the application?
I don't know much about Nightly, but you are correct about it.

This is a link to your user account on this forum. You have not asked here about download problms. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/user/ogam5/questions
When you are trying to download, please tell us what you did.
Please explain the problem in detail.
What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?
Is this with all websites/pages, some, a few?
Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.
This download manager works separately from the browser.
The browser tells it what to download, and off it goes.

Hi, Fred - can say with some confidence that items cannot be downloaded nor saved on ALL Firefox 95 webpages ('misspoke' in my initial posting - actually had 89.2 prior to this; was 'SLAMMED' by Mozilla at some point within the past day but, have now reconfigured allowances so THAT doesn't happen again) - problem carries over to attempted downloads / saves with Opera as well but, unlike Firefox 95, CAN listen to audio, watch video recordings through it - both though, ARE allowing for attaching items in email messages from FF (two different servers) but in the case of Yahoo! Mail, I can't 'drag and drop' image files as previously - AM able to do so with Opera, though.....
Did typical malware scans (several of them; haven't run Windows Defender yet but, don't expect it'll detect anything, either) a System Restore (STILL requiring Safe Mode to be successful) cleared my Desktop cache several times and ran a 'chkdsk /r' operation; nothing appeared to be amiss following them but, STILL can't use FF 95 (haven't attempted to restore 89.2 yet) for the aforementioned operations.....do NOT have any interest whatsoever in updating my OS - it's 7 Pro; hatred of Windows 10 is difficult to adequately communicate - and again, wasn't having a SINGLE problem with performing what can be legitimately referred to as, 'normal' Firefox (89.2) functions until these past 1-2 days.....please advise further, if you would.....thanks once more
Many have reported issues using the 64bit Firefox. Install the 32bit version from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}
OK - was able to DOWNLOAD the 32-bit exe with Opera but, AS with my attempt just minutes ago at opening a UCheck update executable, triggered notice reading, 'cannot create temp folder archive' - not sure what that indicates but, was also in the midst of watching a YouTube instruction video about problems with installations to Windows OSs; Download (as opposed to Temp) folder wouldn't allow for its designation as default destination through Internet Options / Website Data Settings.....
Addendum - 'OK' button was greyed out when clicking on the Download folder in my C drive tree.....
I called for more help.
Start your Computer in safe mode with network support.
Then run the Firefox installer.
Starting Any Computer In Safe Mode (web link) Free Online Encyclopedia
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-start-windows-in-safe-mode/
https://www.digitalcitizen.life/4-ways-boot-safe-mode-windows-10/ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If the problem goes away with the computer in Safe Mode, the problem is with one of the other programs on the system.
As a test, disable your protection programs.
Hi again, Fred - thanks again - will TRY that and let you know how it goes shortly; installed a partially-free multipurpose interface called 'Restoro' which allowed for manually removing a LOT of C drive issues, by area (also confirming that no security breaches had occurred since my last malware scans) and, after some time, significantly improved the 64-bit FF 95's performance - but, STILL no downloadability nor saving capability - including to Paint, my whole Desktop while installation problems haven't been resolved.....weirdly, YouTube can be played - not sure about other 'mainstream' platform services but, have to wonder if might not be looking at a coinciding, distinctly-coordinated cyberattack then.....
One question: does the 32-bit install somehow overwrite its doubled configuration or something, without a need for removing the latter entirely?
Jim
Results of 'safe-mode' 32-bit executable install attempt: appears to have been entirely successful; can now save - including to Paint, download with no issues, all video & audio content-hosting platforms working perfectly again - ONE note, though: not sure why but, for some reason Odysee is still playing at an abnormally-slow speed (started in mid-November, if memory serves me correctly) so as to be unlistenable / non-discernible; contacted them just now (possibly second attempt.....)
Should also ask: for reasons no longer clear to me, I downloaded FF Nightly; have the impression it's some sort of 'developer's tool, or 'beta version (?) Do I even really need it, and is / are there any good aspects to retaining the application?
Thanks, Fred - you've been an absolutely ENORMOUS source of informed assistance to me; do NOT take it lightly - and will 'pay forward' as best I'm able!

When you run the full installer, it should remove the prior program. On a rare occasion, the program files may be corrupt. So what we do is to remove the Firefox folder before running the installer.
