I purchased a new laptop and downloaded Firefox and logged in. The bookmarks loaded but the most of the icons/logos for the sites are not loading, I just have the generic internet globe icon. For the sake of room on the tool bar, most of my bookmarks are the logo only, no text, because the logo is sufficient to know what the bookmarks leads me to. I have rebooted and relaunched the website numerous times but no change. I read one of your articles with someone having the same or similar issue but the response was very confusing and didn't seem to address the real root cause. Please help me get this resolved.

Does this problem only affect migrated bookmarks, new bookmarks are okay?

Normally the site icons populate if you load the bookmarked page, but there are a few exceptions:

(1) Bookmarked address redirected. Can you confirm the blue star appears in the address bar for the bookmarked page -- if the bookmark gets redirected by the server, then Firefox won't pick up the icon, and it's best to edit the bookmark to reflect the new final destination.

(2) Server bars caching of the icon file. Most servers do not do this, but there are a few notorious examples. I wrote an extension to allowing you to work around it: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/cache-favicons-for-bookmarks/

I don't know whether user settings that block caching could cause this as well.

(3) Icon path confusion. Sometimes Firefox seems to check the wrong address for the icon (a default path and file name) rather than the path specified in the page. That can lead to getting the wrong icon or no icon at all. But this should be rare.

Hi jscher2000! Thank you for your response. I have found, while testing the bookmarks on the Bookmarks Tool Bar, that the icon/logo will load on the Tool Bar after the page loads. However, unfortunately, there are a few that are not. I may have to re-bookmark those and see if that resolves the issue. Not sure why these didn't load as part of my profile loading but... A little frustrating but manageable. Have a great rest of the week and thank you again for replying!
