Hello,

The sites of my bank and from the town administration made notes that my Firefox browser was old and should be updated. I downloaded from the Mozzilla site the new Firefox for Windows 10, uninstalled Firefox and installed the new one. Then again these sites noted that my browser was old. Again I uninstalled Firefox completely and then I found out that ALL the files were not deleted but some kind of hidden. In Windows Verkenner there were no files to be found but my firewall found them all, but they had no size, no date, no digital signature at all.

Then I deceded to do a test. In the firewall I switched all the rights of the "deleted" files into "forbidden access". Then again made a new installation with the new installation file. It proceded as normal. But then it apeared that again the same old version of Firefox was present again.

My question is: what is happening here.

Best wishes and thank you, Han Benes

Go to google.com and ask "What is my user agent". What does it say?

dnschecker says: Firefox/87.0

But still the site of the town administration says the browser is not up to date

Websites say that Firefox is outdated or incompatible even though it's the latest version

The website says your browser is outdated and will soon not be supported anymore.

The dnschecker says Firefox/87.0 so I don't see what to be done there.

Still the deleted files after complete uninstall should not be put back in place later with the newest downloaded installation file.

Can you post a link to a publicly accessible page (i.e. no authentication or signing on required)?

You can try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that allows to cleanup the files in the Firefox program folder.
