Hello, I would like to know how to remove 'other bookmarks' folder from the right side of bookmark toolbar that showed up suddenly on my browser, it's right after the arrows to show more bookmarks. I can't seem to find a way to delete this.

You can set browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 = false on the about:config page.

Note that there will be a new pref to hide this folder on the Bookmarks Toolbar [85].

  • browser.toolbars.bookmarks.showOtherBookmarks

In Firefox 86 you can do this via the right-click context menu of the Bookmarks Toolbar (not sure if Firefox 85 will get this).

Firefox 85 Beta includes an option to hide "Other Bookmarks" from the Bookmarks Toolbar by clearing the "Show Other Bookmarks" checkbox in the right-click context menu. Screenshot:

Hi, firstly, be aware that if Other Bookmarks is empty, it will not show. However, to remove it from the toolbar, type about:config into the address bar, press Enter and accept any warning, then copy and paste the following into the search box browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 Now on the search result, click the Toggle button at the right-hand end to change from True to False. You must then restart Firefox to implement the change. (Removing it from the toolbar will not remove it from your usual bookmarks).

Note that from Firefox 85 (scheduled for release 26th January) an option will be added to the right click on the toolbar menu, which will also allow you to add/remove Other Bookmarks"

Been there, done that, is set to "False" did not change anything, I am on v74.0.2, just finished an update about one (1) to two (2) days ago. 'Other Bookmarks' still the same old problem. Also have had the issue of 'duplicates over seven (7) copies all over the place including within Other Bookmarks' when removing a copy they all disapears and lost all records of links within that folder. Then a few days later the threat came back as an EMTY (MT) folder, have not been able to remove it.

Additional data on the 'Other Bookmarks" folder, if you have some links within that folder and do not wish to loose them do this: Create a folder, any title you choose to use (except "Other Bookmarks"), and move those links to that new folder, checking to see if there are any copies of that 'Other Bookmarks' within any folder you have before deleting. There can be many copies in other folders. Be SAFE and protect yourselves.

If you remove a bookmark via the highlighted star then you remove all copies of this bookmark. If you remove a specific copy in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) or the sidebar or otherwise then other copies shouldn't be affected.

Note that you can use "Organize -> Undo" (Ctrl+Z) in the Library if you notice that you lost bookmarks and haven't closed Firefox yet (you may have to perform this action more than once). If you have closed Firefox then you need to restore a recent JSON backup.

Excuse me folks, NONE of this works and I am now on v84.0.2 and "Other Bookmarks" is MT (empty) and in about:config is set to "False" with that folder still there. Attempting to find this post and replies has been a NIGHTMARE, I am going to remove my access to this and not ever be back again. When asking a question, short and simple, the system finds 2K to 32K references that do nothing for my issue and do not have time to search throughout those listings, even TB1rd is shown and I did not even select it.

Good-Bye and good luck . . . THE END!

Setting browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 to false resolved problem for me but I am annoyed that Mozilla silently experiments on users of ff 84 instead of waiting until 85 is released with proper setting to hide this unnecessary element. They continue to ruin UI for me. To keep options "close other tabs" and "close tabs to the right" I had to install 2 add-ons. This is ridiculous. This should all be in ff options!

You posted EXACTLY how I feel. 1) Why the hell would anyone want a FORCED "Other Bookmarks" in the first place? 2) Why would they do this BEFORE giving a proper way to remove it? 3) Why does Mozilla insist on mucking around with the UI and irritating users?

They keep taking away things I use, or "hiding" things I want, and forcing things on me I don't want, often with no option to get things back. My best example is the never-ending tabs-on-bottom fight. And even with userchrome reversion hacks, the tabs look horrible.

There is also 1 creepy aspect. They are not allowed to experiment on users. Firefox studies is finished program, I have all telemetry etc. disabled, I did not allow to experiment on me, all 4 consents denied but they still managed to change my firefox silently without updating it. I do not like it at all. I mean firefox was always about control and customisation, not speed. Now even customisation part is getting worse and worse.
