So fairly recently, as of about say a month or so ago, my add-ons have suddenly stopped working all the time. At first it was fairly infrequent and I simply closed my browser and re-opened it to fix it, and that method still works but it now happens any time I leave the browser open for about 2-ish hours.

This problem is most noticable with my ad-block add-ons, which I have uninstalled, reinstalled, replaced, and even cleared all my browsing data in an effort to fix. When this problem happens the adblock addon icons, which usually have a number next to them, display nothing when clicked on nor do they display numbers even on ad ridden sites.

If anyone has any suggestions about this please let me know.

So I accidentally solved the problem, one of my add-ons (Tab For A Cause) was crashing occasionally so I uninstalled it and that solved literally everything. I guess when it crashed, since it was the creator of new tabs, it would disable my add-ons preventing them from working on any subsequent pages.

It’s possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder

Linux: Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Directory. To its right press the button Open Directory.

Delete all extensions* files and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

After, restart Firefox.

See "Corrupt extension files":

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You will have to approve the updating one last time.
