I use 2 or 3 websites (in the UK) regularly which allows me to check local stock of items I want to buy and then collect. I use Page info and change the Allow Location / Permissions to do this. Every time I restart FF or re start my Mac or FF does an update these chosen settings are lost and reverts to default. How can I make this setting a permanent thing, it's a bit irritating not to be able to Save this preference. (FF v78.0.2esr / Mac 10.11.6)

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history.

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences
  • clearing "Site Preferences" clears exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and software installation and exception for password and other website specific data
  • clearing "Cookies" will remove all selected cookies including cookies with an allow exception you may want to keep
