Hi, I just installed the new FF for the first time, and I find that certain websites make my computer fans spin very fast. I have disabled 'use recommended performance settings' and 'use hardware acceleration' but the problem persists.

The same websites did not cause this on Chrome.

I use a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013), 3 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB Ram. OS X El Capitan.

Please help, I don't want to return to Chrome! Thanks

The fans cool off the circuit boards in the computer. Sometimes, the fan itself has a problem and needs replacement. Sometimes, the vents get clogged and need to be blown out. (Buy a can of compressed air)

What you may be looking at is a CPU problem. The web pages you are looking at maybe working the CPU too much. What is on those web pages? Gifs, players, . . . . . . . .

Hi, I've done everything in FredMcD's post, removed flash and updated the software.

The site I have noticed this on particularly is this Spanish movie rental site I use: https://www.filmin.es/

It's still happening now with that site.

On the home page, if you scroll down continually it keeps bringing up new collections of films, and after a minute on FF the fans start revving up. On Chrome it takes twice as long to get the fans going with that site (2 minutes as opposed to 1 with FF). It's obviously a CPU heavy site, but I also noticed this on other sites, such as a page in the wordpress.com backend that had really no graphics going on.

I've noticed this a lot because this macbook almost never, ever uses its fans. For years I thought they must be broken! It takes a lot to get them going and I've noticed them quite a bit since installing FF.

To be Checked and turned off unless needed for accessibility : Please : Permissions check (put a tick in the box) the setting to Prevent Accessibility Services from accessing your browser.

You made mention of un-checking this but not what you did there..

Multi-Processor Support : Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Only move to esr if low ram and old system.

Firefox Extended Release Version : Firefox ESR does not come with the latest features but it has the latest security and stability fixes.

If do please :
