As I love Mozilla Firefox as the finest webbrowser, I love Foxit Reader as the best PDF-program. I know that Firefox does not support the plugins such as these from Foxit. On my previous computer I installed the ESR version of Firefox, in order to read PDF documents via Foxit. The plugin had already bene installed on that computer. On my new computer I installed Firefox ESR, and the plugin has been installed as well. Nevertheless, the plugin does not work. Does somebody has an explation for this, as well as a solution?

hi, plugins are only supported in the 32bit version of firefox 52 esr still.

That is a clear answer. Indeed, my new system is 64-bits (such as almost all computers during the last years). Will Mozilla solve this?

you can download the 32bit esr build (which will work fine on win64 systems too) here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ other than that mozilla will not solve that - the esr branch is for security updates only and won't receive new features.
