I customized Firefox a lot so it became slower and I decided to refresh it. After refreshing it was much faster but became slower after I edited about:config preferences. All I did was disabling features like WebGL, WebRTC, beacon, geolocation ... So does changing preferences in general slow down Firefox ?

Any change in a program's settings can make it faster or slower. But I don't think what you did should.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Well, Firefox is a bit slower then fresh version but not so much I could not use it. I wanted to know does having a meaningless preference different from default slow down Firefox ?
