why can't i change my security settings so that my passwords are saved when i open up. they used to be until did an update?

OK, So I hit the REFRESH FIREFOX button and it solved the problem!
Open a tab and it already has the saved user name and password.

avast, that doesn't appear to be the problem
thanks. firefox won't save your passwords when you've set it up to run in permanent private browsing mode ("never remember history" in the options > privacy panel).
thanks but it is not set up that way. don't use private.
could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...
