Updates can't work as Drive C is full and I can't find out how to change default drive?

My drive "C" if full and I don't know what the programs and files are to be able to uninstall unused programs. Those that I was able to uninstall I did sol but what is left, I am not sure what is what. This has affected the security downloads and consequently I am currently without security protection. The version of Firefox I am running currently is 40.0.2 as the update could not work for lack of room. I am at a loss as to how to correct all this and get my computer working correctly/up to date? Is there some way to move programs to other drives? Is this something that I will be able to fix with help or should I take to someone who knows what they are doing?

You need to make sure that there is enough room on the Windows system drive (C drive) to ensure proper functioning.

You can check if you can move (uninstall and reinstall) some programs to another drive and possibly move over some data as well. You can also check the Windows temp (%TPM%, %TEMP% environment variables) to see if you can cleanup files there.

You can do a custom install with most programs including Firefox to specify the installation folder.

If you have a lot of clips, videos, music, text, and so on; Buy an external hard drive (or internal if there is room), and transfer all such files to it, deleting the old files after. I have a 3 terabyte drive that I keep those files in.
