Even in safe mode, clicking a link outside of FF will switch to the FF window but will often NOT open the URL until I have repeatedly tried clicking the link. This may be a little unclear so I made a 30 second movie in which I alt-tab back to the link over and over again until FF finally opens the goes to the link. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks!!...and here is the little vid. FF is in safe-mode in the video. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5rVnDjCnEvIV3JrQ0NHbGo3RWM/view?usp=sharing

Weird. Assuming that the default browser is set to Firefox and you are using Mavericks, I wonder if there is an issue with how the application is detected.

For example, there is an entry in about:config that handles links from third party applications. However by default it is off.

browser. link. open_external and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_About:config_Entrie...

It could be the same issue identified in this thread: Firefox won't open email links after update to version 32. Maybe identified is the wrong word, because some users only have the issue if Firefox is hidden in the dock, while others have it even when Firefox is not hidden.

Here is an experiment. Open another web browser on your computer and have it declared the default browser. But do not select the option to Always Check This Browser Is Default. After, close that browser. Now open Firefox. Do the same here, but turn on the Always Check. Sometimes this can fix browser selection issues.
