Version 29 is HORRIBLE to customize

I've been a Firefox user for a very, very long time. So when I saw that an updated version was available today I installed it. It's been years since Firefox a newer Firefox version changed my browser appearance and set up drastically, but today this is HORRIBLE! The whole reason I used Firefox is because it doesn't look childish and haphazard the way other browsers look; now it looks like I downloaded every spam and virus toolbar known to man. Two things exacerbate this issue: one, I had never had to visit the support forum for Firefox before. Ever. Not in nearly nine years of usage. The way I had to register to post my question is stupid, to put it bluntly. It is completely different from every single other forum I have and do participate on. Secondly, and most irritating is no official way to roll back my browser to my previous, pleasantly working and wonderfully set up version. This fact is infuriating and beyond ridiculous.

So now I have to try and find an earlier version of the browser and install it and hope it works because Mozilla updated the browser and it not only looks like crap, it completely changed my browsing experience and for the past several hours I cannot figure out how to get it to look closer to my previous version. I'm not a newbie here, either.

If I cannot get this working, I will be done with Mozilla products. This is how a company loses customers, by alienating them and forcing changes upon them without giving the option to at least keep the familiar look and set up. I'm not even beginning to get into a lot of the bugs I have been reading about on this forum today. If I wanted a crappy version of Chrome or Internet Explorer, then I would use those browsers.

I feel your pain, I wish I'd never clicked on that darn update...I can't even open the stupid thing, as soon as it shows up and I click anywhere on its window, it crashes and "stops responding".

They seriously need two different versions of FF as this latest change is pure touch screen tablet computer and totaly alianates the traditional desktop user. My desktop is way faster and more powerfull than any tablet computer but the now declining tablet computer market is there primary focus it seems and they need to offer a solution that is better than all the current very bad solutions and maybe keep a version of FF 28 updated for secutity and have two versions of FF. One for Desktop and another for Touch tablets

Firefox 28.0 was the previous Major version by the way and not 27.

Version 28 was only released in March, I had issues with that one too. Version 27.0.1 was the last best working version for me.

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to restore some functionality that was lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

  • You can check the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
  • You can find extra toolbar buttons in the Customize palette (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)

Tried it, it didn't work right, and having to download an additional extension or plug in to make my browser work is not an acceptable solution, it is merely a work-around.
