Something called Abuchak has taken over myFirefox search engine
This mysterious site took over my Firefox browser yesterday. Numerous Firefox victims exist.
I am unable to access my Firefox browser to even try to correct the problem.
The abuchak website offers no information for its invasion.

This earlier thread offers one solution. However, if you have an add-on from these people you might need to remove it first: lost navigation with view, bookmarks, back, forward home page NYT?? | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help.
To disable or remove add-ons, check here:
orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Add-ons
On the left side, choose the Extensions category, as this is the most common type of add-on.
I didn't read the part about not being able to access the browser. What happens when you try to start it? Any error message or it just never appears?
Try starting up the Firefox Profile Manager and creating a new profile.
Click the Windows 7 start orb and type or paste this into the search box and press Enter:
firefox.exe -no-remote /ProfileManager
You should get the profile manager and be able to create a new profile (named, e.g., TEST) and then start up in that profile, even if Firefox is running hidden in your old profile.
Does that run correctly without the search hijacking? If so, the next step is: Recovering important data from an old profile.
It does not show up in the addons
@bdeco1, did you try the suggestions in the earlier thread linked above?
I gave up on this nightmare and just deleted and reinstalled Firefox .. sadly I lost all of my may Bookmarks.
NOTE: Mozilla proved to be a totally disinterested sponsor and I will now predominantly use Windows Explorer.

@efsimons, I responded to you shortly after you posted with several different suggestions. If you had asked, I could have told you how to preserve your bookmarks. If you make regular backups of your PC, we can still help you with that. Otherwise, enjoy IE.
I am using Firefox 5 under Windows XP (in Italian) ... This morning I got this problem.
I searched the file <firefox.exe -no-remote /ProfileManager> in the hard disk but I could not find it.
Bewurke troch Hisayoshi op
@Hisayoshi, sorry for the complication:
In Windows XP you use the Run box (Start > Run).
On Windows 7, they combined Run into the Search box (Windows 7 Orb > Search).
It worked! Many thanks!
