Firefox STILL reverts to non-private browser despite settings

In response to another of my now archived posts, Mozilla emailed me suggesting I update my version, which I had mentioned that I had done. So, to be clear to Firefox/Mozilla: my phone is completely up to date (iPhone 14 max pro), my Firefox app is completely up to date, all settings are properly set to default to and stay in private browsing mode.

In spite of this, after closing Firefox for a few hours or more, when opened, it reverts to NON private browser, thereby allowing more data collection…which is exactly what private mode is designed to limit.

I have posted this multiple times, and I think in different areas. I have replied to Firefox/Mozilla's email and forum responses that this continues to be an issue in spite of their commentary that they are “working on it.” This has been happening for over a year and does not happen on other browsers; and in spite of me having already done everything they have suggested to resolve this.

Others appear to have this issue. While I have changed to a competing browser, I still prefer Firefox and check back frequently, but there is no movement and there only seems to be limited lip-service from Firefox/mozilla.

This is the first I’m hearing about that. I’ll try it.
