91.2.1 is very slow to open. Apple Mail is one click and open, whereas, Thunderbird does not respond so, you do two clicks and wait forever. It's like an old person struggling to get out of an armchair.

All the older versions were instant.

Tried quitting App and re-opening and this seemed to fix the issue. Why it started from the get go not performing I have no idea as, it has been like that since it updated?

I have now deleted the add-ons and found that if you press Control, Command, Space it brings up emojis.

Why this is simply not on the smiley face very limited 16 emojis icon on the Write email toolbar one really has to wonder?

try help > troubleshooting mode

I tried that thanks but, I do not have any add-ons so, it's faster in troubleshooting mode, but still slow to open at times back in normal mode.

Hughmoz, did you determine the cause of your issue?

more options

Not really. Interestingly the arrival of OSX Monterey sorted out a lot of problems on my iMac desktop. Thunderbird opens fairly normally now from cold or from the dock. The new OSX also has resolved others issues on browsers like Safari and Chrome, which now respond quickly. My phone company were about to sort out a new router, but everything is a lot better now. Thanks for your suggestions and interest in how it is going :)
