Hello! Bookmarks disappeared in Mozilla Firefox after updating. For some unknown reason, they are not restored from the backup, although it is indicated that they have been saved (22 items). What to do in this situation? Thanks.

If we are looking at just the bookmarks toolbar, then some of the bookmark items could have moved to a different folder. I would try Ctrl+B and expand all of the folders. If not there, the items could appear after setting a different profile (about:profiles) to default.

22 items could be just the basic set of bookmarks that comes with a new Firefox install. Did the restore menu show any larger backups from earlier days?

Do you recall any unusual things happening during your update such as:

  • Firefox performed a Refresh and created/updated a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data
  • Firefox said it needed to create a new profile
  • Anything else?
