Firefox has been very slow the past few weeks. It came on suddenly. I just realized Firefox did an update to version 60 a few weeks ago. Firefox takes forever to load and times-out alot. Once videos load (takes forever), they play for 2 seconds and freeze.

I only have 2 add-ons and tried Firefox in safe mode, it didn't help.

Any suggestions on another version I could download? Maybe a beta version?

Its so bad, this update has made my laptops almost unusable.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi, what amount of ram do you have please ? What operating system did this come with ? 7 ? If not running Windows 10 version 1803 yet, get it (check System --> About) :

Please Copy/Paste about:preferences#privacy into the Address Bar then Enter. Go down to Heading Permissions and at the bottom that heading please make sure there is a Check Mark in the box for Prevent accessibility services from accessing your browser.

Then please go up to General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please. Note : Hardware Acceleration is for Video Card, Monitor to see if remain off or to turn back on.

Please go through Windows 10 Settings, everyone of them and turn off what is not needed or going to be needed, delete stuff that comes with Win10 (it can be reinstalled if need it), Maps, get rid of them stop it from downloading new ones. Use google maps instead. Turn of microphone or cam or what ever ....

Optimize Windows 10 :

You may want to try this: Open the System Folder then Click on left side Advanced System Settings which opens System Properties click the Advanced Tab then click Performance button Settings then the Advanced Tab then Click the Change under Virtual Memory click Custom Size and Change Size to where it says Recommended Size and enter in BOTH then Click Set and then Click Apply then please Re-boot.

System - -> Advanced System Settings --> System Properties - -> Advanced Tab - -> Change Virtual Memory - -> Custom Size - -> ENTER Recommended MAX Size in both MIN and MAX boxes - -> Set - -> Apply-- > Reboot
