keeps coming up with not responing how can I fix this

Every time I open up my web browser I get " not responding" and have to wait. I did a refresh for firefox but that did not help. Was hoping the update would have cured that problem but it did not. This has been going on for quite some time and it is getting annoying.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

On some systems, the Flash player can hang Firefox if any tab you're opening uses Flash. To work around that, try disabling the Flash Player plugin's protected mode feature.
