Recent lagging in Firefox, think 'Old Default Image Style' add-on is to blame?

My Firefox started lagging about a week ago. A few hours into a web browsing session is when the problem would usually arise.

I Googled to see if anyone else was having similar problems and found an old discussion of someone advising another user to see if the problem goes away in safe mode. And then to disable and re-enable add-ons one at a time to help identify which one was causing the problem.

I followed this advice and think I've narrowed it down to the 'Old Default Image Style' add-on causing the issue. My browser doesn't lag after I have this disabled.

So what would other users advise now? My issue being that I installed this add-on for a reason, I felt as though I couldn't continue with the way Firefox views images in it's default mode, and it is actually annoying me to have the add-on disabled.

Is anyone computer literate enough to understand why this issue is being caused to begin with, I would ideally like the add-on back. Or do I have to deal without it now?

Which setting(s) are you using in the extension to revert to previous behavior (appearance)?

You can also look at this extension:

See also this forum thread for other solutions (e.g. userContent.css):

Umm, I didn't edit any settings within the add-on.

That particular add-on reverted a single image view to a time when Firefox would view it as an image situated in the top left corner of the browser window on a white background.

I have not needed to edit the add-on ever, as it had performed the task I was needing to to excellently until recently when it's started my browser lagging.

That add-on you have linked me to is great, as I can now edit the background colour but images are still centered, when I would prefer them to be top left aligned.

You may be able to undo the automatic center with this code in the userContent.css file.

html > body > img:only-child { margin:0px !important; }

Add the code to the userContent.css file.

The customization files userChrome.css (interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

Make sure to save the file using type "All files" to prevent a possibly hidden .txt file extension from getting added.

Not going to lie, I literally have no idea how to do any of the stuff you mentioned in your last post. Sorry. But thanks for all your help.

You can use the ChromEdit Plus or Stylish extension to have easier access to the customization files.
