How do I go back to hte old version? I hate the update!

more options

I don't like the new update and would like to go back to the old version which I really liked. How do I do that?! I know there seems to be a work around to get my old tabs from previous sessions...but it seems a lot of work.

To resume your previous session, you have three options.

(1) You can immediately return to your previous windows and tabs instead of starting with a home page. This is set in Options just as in earlier version of Firefox.

Firefox button > Options > General tab > "When Firefox starts"

or

Tools menu > Options > General tab > "When Firefox starts"

(2) You can use the blue button on the new Firefox start page (the about:home page)

(3) You can use the History menu:

Firefox button > History > Restore Previous Session

or

History menu > Restore Previous Session

Was it a lot easier before?

Anyway, here's the process to roll back:

First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See Backing up your information. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)

Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older

Close Firefox 4.

You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.

Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!
