I have had Thunderbird for 10 to 15 years. I switched from outlook. Now microsoft is terrorizing me. My mail account setup has been changed to outlook, and I have tried many times to put Thunderbird back in, but I can neither receive nor send mails. it's disastrous!

It might be a serious problem to you, but as you keep replying to yourself with more and more nonrelevant information your topic is not even listed by the system as in need of a reply and certainly not as a new issue. Think about that for a moment.

Now you apparently have an issue with getting mail. As this is a peer support forum we know exactly what you tell us. The better the information you supply, the better the response you will get. Having said that we are volunteers, we don't get paid for our time and impatiently replying to yourself as you have done is counter productive. I days pass a comment may be warranted in case the topic has been missed or a reply forgotten, but if you need support in minutes, you need to hire a professional in your community.

In the interests of getting some quality information on which to try an formulate a reply. Could you please do the following?

  1. Post in your next reply what the error message your set when you attempt to get mail are. Verbatim please.
  2. Open the menu Fx57Menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information, then click Copy text to Clipboard.
  3. Go to https://pastebin.mozilla.org/, paste the clipboard by right clicking in the large text area, select paste from the menu, change the retention period to expire in 28 days, use the Paste Snippet button to create a page containing your info, then copy the resulting URL (address) of the page created.
  4. Open a reply to this post, and paste the URL to your troubleshooting information you just copied.
  5. Please also provide results for the following test on your system

This weeks common problem appears to impact Norton's antivirus users. Their antivirus is completely blocking mail activity. Nortons have instruction on their web site to make things work if you are affected, or you could just uninstall Norton.
