I can't get Amazon back as a search option Bing is one of the search options selected in search settings, doesn't appear.

If I install an older version will it be ok. Why do they keep installing new updates which cause issues with the one I am using. I installed Opera and will give it a try. Firefox keeps changing things that work.'bold text'

Only Amazon.com is available as one of the built-in search engines (browser.search.region => US), other locales have been removed for some reason. For other locales you can visit the Mycroft Project website.

Icons for the checked (enabled) search engines should appear along the bottom of the drop-down when you are typing in the address bar. Bing isn't showing up there?

By the way, if you are looking specific for Amazon UK, I posted an add-on version:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/amazon-uk-amazon-co-uk-search/

The question is- Why has it disappeared, or been deleted? If the writers of Firefox decide to remove a feature, they need to let us know. I have spent hours trying to put it back, only to find that it is promptly removed. Just wasting my time.

Alternatively if that happens by mistake, then an apology and a fix should be provded by the person who did the damage.

Did you try installing the extension Amazon UK (amazon.co.uk) Search?

Yes I used the link above https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/amazon-uk-amazon-co-uk-search/ which works well.

But given Firefox's past behaviour, I have no confidence that it will be there tomorrow.

More importantly, how can I get the questions I posed in my previous post answered? And action taken to implement some stability.

The built-in search engines have a contract with Mozilla, so my speculation would be that there was a legal issue which discontinued the contract for versions of Firefox in Europe. Maybe due to different privacy laws??

My add-on isn't going anywhere.

Thank you for the insight. But it would help if users were told, perhaps as a top return or sidebar from a relevant search.

Mozilla can push such changes remotely to all Firefox versions.

The latest Amazon changes were from Dec 18, 2023. More recently (Mar 18/2024 14:01:03) there were changes on adding Qwant as a default search engines for some locales as mentioned in the 124.0 Release notes.
