Firefox should again respect the user's wish expressed by "xpinstall.signatures.required".

The arguments for this are relatively clear and in line with the principles of free and user empowering software original practiced by Mozilla and Firefox.

Users should not be prevented from making their own decisions and customizing the browser or, worse, given an incentive to switch to Chrome due to encroaching opaque motives.

You can use the Firefox ESR version if you need to install unsigned extensions as this version supports this xpinstall.signatures.required pref. There will also be a policy available (there is an uplift request for 102 ESR).

thank you for the hint.

However, think this change is necessary for the consumer 'normal' firefox (desktop & mobile), which is used by most.

If you want to leave feedback for developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select either Share ideas and feedback… or Submit feedback…, depending on your Firefox version. Alternatively, you can use this link. Your feedback gets collected by a team of people who read it and gather data about the most common issues.
