Facebook pictures quit appearing after long session. What appears is a "box" with brief descriptive text.

This began about a month ago.

Works fine for about an hour or more.

Clearing cache does not help.

Going slower or waiting does not help.

Happens at all hours, same way, at busy or low use times.

Different DNS at the two locations.

If I totally shut down the system and reboot, that usually fixes it for a while. Shut down Firefox and restart does not help.

This occurs on two different, but similar machines at two different locations, with different fiber-fed ISPs.

Firefox 94.0, 64bit, Ubuntu 18.04

This could be a problem with an extension like F.B Purity or Adblock Plus.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.

Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for relevant-looking messages about blocked content.

Two solutions - Quick and easy, must do every time it happens - Push Ctl-F5 - Permanent, but more difficult - use about:config to change page refresh frequency setting
