Sounds more like a google problem then a FF issue here.

Hi johnsankey, it looks like "More" is a tooltip for the icon with a vertical stack of 3 dots (... sideways). By tooltip, I mean a little tag that appears when you mouse over that button. Does that seem to be the source of it on your Firefox?

If "More" persists onto the next page after you follow a link, do either of these help:

  • run the mouse pointer over the element a couple times (without clicking)
  • reload the page bypassing the cache (Command+Shift+r or Shift+click the reload button on the toolbar)

Is the zombie element limited to that tab? In other words, if you right-click (or on Mac, Ctrl+click) a link and click Open Link in New Tab, does "More" appear in that tab, too?

Sometimes when graphics stick to a spot on the screen, there is an incompatibility between Firefox and your graphics card/chipset driver software. Could you try disabling Firefox from using hardware acceleration? This is a potential workaround for those incompatibilities. The following article describes where to make that change: Firefox's performance settings. This will take effect the next time you quit Firefox and start it up again. Any difference?

Since hardware acceleration improves the appearance of fonts and animations, you may want to check whether graphics card/chipset driver updates are available for your system. This article suggests safe ways to do that: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.
