So everytime I restart firefox, my extensions, such as adblocker, are not enabled.

More specifically, even though they appear as enabled, they are not functioning for some reason. Also, I noticed somethign interesting. Adblocker plus, when enabled and functioning has 3 tabs appearing on it. First says "Options", second says "Disable", third says "Remove". However, when I start firefox the first tab is not there, even though it says that it is enabled, and of course, it is not functioning. Other add-ons dont work too, but they dont have this extra "options" tab, so I mentioned adblocker for reference.

The temporary fix that I have found is that when I click on the "Disable" tab and then the "Enable" bar that appears, the add-on is enabled and fully functioning again, but of course this is not a viable solution if I have many add-ons and not a very practical one.

This problem appeared on new OS. I just did a clean installation of my PC, going from Windows 7 to Windows 10, so maybe its Windows 10 related.

Lastly, I would like to mention that I have already tried deleting the extension and ini files etc, but nothing has worked...I even deleted all the mozzila and firefox files in my User/Apps directory, then unistalled and reinstalled firefox, but even that didnt work..So it seems like a OS issue to me.

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

No, unfortunetely it didn't work. After it imported all the information, it then reopened. As you said, the extensions were gone, but I reinstalled adblock to check if problem is solved...However, after I restarted firefox, adblock again not functioning (even though it says it is enabled, just like I explained in original post)

It is possible there is a problem with files in the profile folder that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in ""3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions" then check if there is a compatibility update available.

  • click the cogwheel button (left of the Search bar) on the about:addons page to "Check for Updates"

If this didn't help then delete add-ons.json and possibly prefs.js in case there is a problem with preferences.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
