Updated Firefox today and now my opening window tab states Search - HotOrColdToday and I don't want that on my machine. So how do I get rid of it and have already reinstalled but still the same?

Something has probably changed your default search engine. You can change it back in by opening the menu (the button with three horizontal lines), choosing Preferences->Search. Pick the default search engine you want and close preferences.

If the problem persists or re-occurs after trying the above, you may have some form of malware.

It sounds like malware, but not one that I recognise. That is rather unusual on a Mac. Check on your Mac and in Firefox's addons for anything unwanted.

Try to check the shortcuts or scripts used to launch Firefox. Has malware added something to the end of the script or shortcut so that Firefox opens some specified site.

It is usually frowned upon, as unnecessary, to try malware scanners on a Mac but try this from Malwarebytes

Please post back to say how you get on.
