You could try starting Firefox in Safe Mode temporarily (hold down option while starting Firefox) and disable hardware acceleration (Preferences dialog > Advanced > General, uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available"), then exit Firefox and try starting it normally.

But if you could extract one other thing: crash report IDs that will allow volunteers to see some of the crash reports you've submitted to Mozilla. Please check the last section of the support article "Firefox Crashes" for steps to get those crash IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.

I was able to open it using the link mentioned before but turning off the hardware accelerator didn't help me. Now it's not starting in safemode either!

When you say the link requires entering a password, I'm not sure why that would be. What about a link to some other website, does that work normally?

I think the main difference between using a link and starting up Firefox directly (in regular or in Safe Mode) is that the link method does not load your home page or try to restore your previous session. Perhaps there is a problem with one of those two.

Were you able to get to the about:crashes page and find some crash reports?

My start up page is Google... and I did try but it says only if you can start in safe mode. And I have tried other links with no luck.

Try to start Firefox with the about:blank page by creating a copy of the current Firefox desktop shortcut and add a space and -url "about:blank" to the command field. On Mac you may have to use the terminal to pass the command line parameters.
