Is Firefox sending an automatic message that says Firefox 28.0.0.5186 is ready for download or do I have a bug?

About twice a week, I get a message box at the bottom of my monitor that says: Firefox needs updating. firefox 28.0.0.5186 is ready for download.

However, my computer is set for automatic firefox downloads and this message reappears even if I attempt the update.

Is this from firefox or do I have a bug in my computer?

You do need to update to Firefox 28, however the wording of the message you are getting is not from Firefox.

Please do the following:

  1. Scan for malware, Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware
  2. Update Firefox Update Firefox to the latest release
