Cannot send messages

I'm unable to send messages from my Verizon email that is setup in Thunderbird. I get an error ""Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.aol.com was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again."

This happens with the outgoing server set to smtp.verizon.net and with smtp.aol.com

I've disabled my firewall and anti virus to make sure that's not interfering with it

I'm able to login through aol webmail and access the email

In AOL less secure apps is enabled

I have had that error message in Firefox and it was because my internet connection was bad and I had a rubbish anti virus that worked like a slug.

I suggest you disable an email scanning in anti virus product.
