Enter this internal address in the Location Bar to get the old Search Engine Manager:

chrome://browser/content/search/engineManager.xul

Highlight the Yahoo search engine, then use the Remove button in the lower-right part of the tab.

Hi, you can change or edit your search engine by clicking the magnifying glass at the left-hand end of the search box, then Change Search Settings.

Settings are also available in Options (cog wheel) > Search tab.

Yahoo search has registered somewhere in the system, and periodically imposed on the default search engine and a new tab. changing the settings does not help. full reset helps for a while, then yahoo again potoryaet all anew. advised the program adwcleaner, it seems helped.
