Just double check, you did go to: File and UNCHECK the Offline Mode, right?

I believe Firefox automatically goes into the Work Offline mode when it detects that you don't have a working internet connection. It might be a problem with your computer's internet settings.

You might try going into Preferences/Settings of Firefox, then clicking on the Advanced tab, then Network, then clicking "Settings" under the connection header. Ensure that it says use the system settings. If that doesn't work, try the steps in Basic Troubleshooting. Sorry; I should have had you do that first.
