After a subscription cancellation of a firefox software I cannot open or install Firefox. Best Buy Geek Squad tried to fix it remotely and they were not able to fix it. Why would this happen after cancelling a subscription that was making Firefox very slow. Firefox is my preferred browser and I can not use it. My email is [email removed from public] Thank you, Carlos Soto

What subscription are you talking about? A newsletter? Or did you mean the auto-updating?

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?

Did you get the full installer from; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

The (desktop) Firefox web browser for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux is 100% free to download and use (and build from source yourself even) from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

What subscription are you referring to?

Only things Mozilla has that has subscriptions you pay for is Mozilla VPN and Firefox Private Network

It was Mozilla VPN

Sorry to hear about this problem.

Sometimes program installers and uninstallers mess with certain shared Microsoft files. Unfortunately, this has been known to happen when uninstalling Mozilla VPN. You may have seen a message related to a missing VCRUNTIME140_1.DLL file, or maybe not. Either way, missing that file makes Firefox useless from the address bar down.

To rule out that issue, you can (re)run Microsoft's installer for the VC Runtime files:

(A) Open https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-160#visual-studio-2015-2017-2019-and-2022

(B) In the "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022" section of the article, download the installer for your system:

  • 64-bit Windows: the "X64" download
  • 32-bit Windows: the "X86" download

(C) Run that installer and restart Windows.

Any improvement?
